St. John's Curriculum
At St. John’s Early Childhood Center, we believe that children learn best by “doing”. Therefore, in a safe, loving environment, we provide the young child with a variety of “hands on” learning experiences.
Children enjoy a wide range of developmentally appropriate activities:
- Experiment with a variety of art media and materials
- Develop language and literacy skills
- Number, science and reading readiness activities
- Interact with peers in small and large group settings
- Music and movement activities
- Gross motor play in indoor and outdoor settings
- Express ideas and feelings
- Develop a positive attitude about school
- Loving, Christian environment
Most important of all, we want children to be excited about learning and going to school. We want them to feel positive about themselves and their abilities, and develop a respect and tolerance for other people and ideas. We want them to know they are capable, caring individuals who can be successful in relationships, in new situations and with new ideas. We want your children to know, understand and participate in learning as a life-long process.
Our Strength
Our strength lies in our qualified and experienced staff – their professional competence, their personal dedication and their Christian commitment. All classroom lead teachers have a degree in education or related field. Our teachers attend workshops and conferences every year to increase their knowledge in the field and are certified in Child CPR and First Aid. All staff are required to complete a physical, TB screening, Hepatitis A series and Child Abuse/Criminal Record check for employment.
St. John’s ECC maintains the high standards set by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
