Parent Volunteers

Science Volunteers - Present pre-planned science activities for 3’s & 4’s classes.

Mystery Story Readers – In 3’s classrooms.

Additional Volunteers

  • Classroom parties and get-togethers
  • Help matte children’s pictures & set-up for our annual Art Show
  • Help with special art activities during the year

Take-Home Storybags:

Literacy partnership between home and school.

3’s Classes: Monthly “Red Storybags” each feature a quality children’s book with various activities to further extend the story.

4’s Classes: Request a “Blue Storybag”; Each features a book from the Parkway or Rockwood Recommended Reading List with multiple literacy activities.

In-School "Field Trips"

Visits by Chesterfield Police, Nature on the Move and the Magic House are planned.


Annual Events

Visiting Day: Parents attend with their child to visit classroom.

Get Acquainted Coffee: Parents are invited to meet and discuss pertinent topics.

Kids Helping Kids: Help by donating to the Circle of Concern.

Halloween Parade: Children wear costumes; parade and sing spooktacular songs.

Parent/Teacher Conferences: Held twice a year; discuss your child’s goals/progress.

Thanksgiving Feast: Parents join class for music, food and fun.

Christmas Party: Christmas performance celebrated in Sanctuary followed by gifts and refreshments.

Valentine’s Party: Children bring valentines and enjoy a special snack.

Evening of the Arts: An evening in April when families are invited to view the children’s artwork displayed throughout the school.

Mother’s Day: Mom’s join the class for special songs, gifts and refreshments.

Last Day of School: Celebrate with an ice cream social.

Monthly Newsletters from the Director and your child’s classroom teacher keep you informed of theme-based learning activities, songs & prayers, monthly events.


About Our Center

St. John’s Early Childhood Center has been providing a nurturing Christian environment for young children for over 35 years. Our program offers excellence in its programs, a staff of early childhood professionals, and developmentally appropriate curriculum.
